Hey, I was wondering if you could write some critique on my recent medieval armor drawings?
With pleasure! Note though, that I would not have analyzed it as detailed if you did not ask me, so please don't take my complaints personnel :)
Excellent as always. My thanks. What about this one: igorlevchenko.deviantart.com/a…?
Thank you for contributing.

Well, thank you for the request :)
Hey, I'm an aspiring digital artist that pretty much has no idea how to draw. I would LOVE to draw things with the amount of detail that you put into your pieces, but I have no clue how. I'm using Photoshop CS5, and a Wacom Pen&Touch Medium. Are there any tutorials you can point me to? I just really need some help with this, I was expecting to teach myself, but that's not the case. Every time I draw or paint something, it ends up looking like garbage.

Hey, first off, thanks for liking my work :)
I personally did not watch any tutorials on how to paint or draw. I started drawing when I was a little child (about 5 years old) and since then my skill in drawing has improved. Same goes for painting. I started painting traditionally (with aquarel and acrylic colour) and the first pieces really looked like garbage. That make me fear colours when it comes to painting :D But school made me paint in colours anyway and by practising it in school I improved. Same goes for drawing, again. I then used the knowledge I have gathered in traditional art for digital art and my first pieces were again crap (I painted and drew with a computer mouse back then). But I wanted to improve my digital skills, so I practised and practised. And here I am, having no idea what I am doing when I paint but having showable results. The best way of improving your skills in anything is motivation, really. And the best way to be motivated is to join a project or start an own project. Set a goal and try to reach it, by having smaller steps that you try to reach first. And always remember: This is nothing you will learn in a day, nor a month nor a year. You will need severeal years until you are truly good. So don't try to compare your early work with experienced professionels, but rather with your slightly older works, so you can keep track of your improve ments. Also, here are a couple of tutorials that might come in handy, who knows: www.youtube.com/results?search…
